One of the tourist attraction there is a museum and breeding butterflies. Everything went smoothly and fun. They were accompanied by Mrs. Fatima, their teachers; also Mr. Rico, a clumsy new teacher. Pak Darma, their 'tour guide' are also friendly, even there also Daeng Tinggi the mysterious one and Mr. Rudi, a hideous ranger. However, a strange feeling came to Amel, the evil one is among them, plan something destructive. Amel who was getting close to Laras, then took her to investigate this matter.
Okay, read this series, it was not fair if I only read from one author. So, I decided to
instigate my sister to buy this book. The result? Not bad. different chefs, different taste. Fita Chakra has a different storytelling methods than Yovita Siswati. Mystery does not immediately appear in the beginning, so it might be a bit boring for some people, but not me, I like it. Explanation at the beginning strengthening the personality of the characters which are indeed many. Actually, the difference of each characters’s personality aren’t too obvious, but the conflict between them ... Umm, complex.
Sekar who have a sense of responsibility towards her sister (twins) felt she must keep Laras from all peril, while Laras was actually felt unfettered and sometimes hate to set by her sister. Then came Amel, a strange girl who feared by her friends. Then, Amel and Laras are being close, and Laras see the good side of Amel. Amel, the brave and earth lover one invites Laras to face danger for the sake of nature. Laras was faced with a dilemma, between obey Sekar to be quiet, sheltered and safe forever, or with Amel go out to the tension that she dreamed.
For the cultural exploration, it was limited in the Park Bantimurung only. In this case, about butterflies and things scientific. Too bad, because actually I wanted the distinctive culture of Sulawesi was discussed.
Already then, many annoying errors, like latin names that forgot to italicized. Not only Latin name, there seems to be a few paragraphs that forgot to italicized too or maybe forgot to replace the pronouns. In addition there is a misleading statement that the butterfly is more beautiful than moth, in reality there are many beautiful moths and there also butterflies with a simple pattern. Typo is also quite a lot, it does not matter if only letters typo, but word typo? whereas if look at the creative process of this novel, it seems the editing was already all-out. Why are also ways to preserve the butterfly should be written if it is illegal? If it is illegal, what about the museums that display the preserved animals? Wasn’t the animals already carcass?
But, regardless of the technical issues above, seriously, I really want go to Bantimurung!
